Nail Fin Options
New Construction Nail Fin Window
- Nail Fin: A flat vinyl flange around the outside edge of the window frame with nail hole openings.
- Installation: Nailed directly to the exposed wall studs.
- Purpose: Secures the window and integrates with house wrap and flashing for a watertight seal.
- Hidden After Install: Covered by siding once the exterior is finished.
Remove Nail Fin Only
- Nail Fin will be cut off on all sides.
- Installation: Old window and surrounding materials are removed to expose the rough opening.
- Purpose: Allows full-frame replacement with proper sealing and fastening
Full Retrofit Replacement (Insert Window)
- Nailing Fin is removed, appropriate holes drilled and plugs, screws, and sill angle are provided.
- Installation: New window is inserted into the existing frame.
- Purpose: Avoids disturbing exterior finishes; secured with screws.
